Yang paling bisa berperang di masa depan yaitu orang-orang yang bisa menerima kenyataan hidup, berdampingan dengan orang lain, dan bangsa lain dengan berbagai keragaman lainnya. Orang-orang seperti itulah yang akan diterima di banyak tempat, dan banyak kesempatan. Oleh karena itu, NU melalui IPNU dan beberapa organisasi harus siap untuk bersaing kapan pun, dan di mana pun. Untuk menghadapi berbagai tantangan, milenial NU harus memastikan kaderisasi, membangun komitmen yang kuat, moderasi beragama, dan juga membangun soft skill. Hidup di zaman next generation tantangannya tidak selalu linier, dan akan lebih kompleks. Berpikir liar saja tidak cukup, bekerja biasa-biasa saja, dan bekerja hanya mengandalkan ijazah saja tidak cukup.
“Kelebihan generasi milenual dengan generasi milenial yaitu secara terstruktur kita dibina dan dijaga. Gerakan kita tidak dimiliki oleh semua generasi milenial. Karenanya saya mengajak generasi milenial untuk bersama-sama berkomitmen menjaga NKRI di dalam konteks milenual.” Ujar Prof Suyitno, M.Ag .
Menurut Fakhrul Irfan Syah, Ketua IPNU Jatim, untuk menghadapi tantangan ideologi yang paling mendasar di ranah domestik organisasi IPNU yaitu melakukan pengembangan melalui organisasi dan kaderisasi. Kaderisasi dalam kepemimpinan berdasarkan minat dan bakat kepelatihan yang kiranya menjadi pondasi utama dari IPNU untuk membentuk kader-kader yang matang.
Di IPNU Jawa Timur ada berapa program unggulan di antaranya SAS (Student Accelaration Space), program tersebut digunakan sebagai bagaimana IPNU mengakselerasi kemampuan dari pelajar-pelajar. Program SAS ini dapat diikuti oleh semua kader IPNU yang sudah melakukan kaderisasi di tingkatan yang paling awal.

Dalam rangka mengelola Generasi Milenial, Pimpinan Pusat Ikatan Pelajar Nahdlatul Ulama memiliki Panca Hikmat yang orientasinya adalah untuk mengelola milenial.
